Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed
Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
Meet the Boston Team Behind Level Two Chimney Boston
We’re the crew that shows up in a marked van, puts on boot covers, and lays down a drop cloth before the first tool comes out. Most of us have been working on Boston chimneys for well over a decade, from triple-deckers in Dorchester to 19th-century single-family homes in Jamaica Plain. What unites us is simple: we believe a homeowner should see exactly what we see, in writing and in photos, before they spend a dollar. Corrine Halstead owns and operates this location, and every technician on this page works to the same Haven Standard she’s enforced since 2009.
Our People
Mike R., Lead Technician
Mike has been sweeping and inspecting chimneys in Greater Boston for 14 years. He holds a CSIA certification and specializes in NFPA 211 Level 2 camera inspections, the kind that find cracked flue liners and hidden smoke chamber damage before they become house fires. Mike is the person who will walk you through your camera footage, pointing out creosote class, mortar joint condition, and whether that stain on the brick is spalling or just cosmetic. Outside of work, he restores old motorcycles in his garage in Quincy and has a soft spot for Federal-period fireplace surrounds.
Denise K., Senior Installer
Denise leads our liner and rebuild work, and she’s the reason our DuraFlex and HeatShield installs come out clean and straight the first time. She’s been in the trade for 17 years, the last nine focused almost entirely on stainless steel flue liners, chimney caps, and crown repairs. Denise can look at a crumbling crown and tell you within minutes whether it needs a full recast or a seal-and-patch will hold. She’s meticulous about documenting her work, which is why every install she touches leaves the house with a photo record under Clause 4 of the Haven Standard. On weekends, she coaches youth soccer in Roslindale.
Tommy A., Service Coordinator
Tommy is the voice on the phone when you call (857) 567-8887. He’s been with us for six years and knows the Boston service area block by block. His job is to schedule the right technician for the right job, make sure you get a written price before anyone starts, and send the text that tells you exactly when your tech is on the way. Tommy is background-checked, uniformed, and has never once asked a customer to “call for a quote.” Before joining Level Two, he worked dispatch for a plumbing outfit in Somerville, which is where he learned that a live person answering the phone matters more than any app.
Jared P., Apprentice
Jared is in his second year with us, working alongside Mike on inspections and cleanings. He handles roof-edge safety setup, bagging and documenting creosote removed from the flue, and the pre-inspection checklist every job requires. Jared is currently completing his CSIA certification coursework, and he’s the reason our cleanup after a sweep is spotless. He grew up in Hyde Park, went to Boston Latin, and can tell you which chimneys on his street still have original 1920s brick. His notes on smoke chamber observations are already some of the best in the crew.
One Standard, Every Job

The Haven Standard was built in Boston, and every person on this page works to it without exception. That means a written scope, written price, and written warranty before any work begins, not a verbal estimate followed by a surprise line item. It means Clause 4 compliance on every single visit: a documented photo record you keep, whether we swept the flue or rebuilt the crown. It means materials from DuraFlex, HeatShield, Gelco, Olympia Chimney, Famco, and Copperfield, procured through Haven’s buying network to keep your price honest. And it means the 365-Day Done Right Promise stamped on every job: if it’s not done right, we make it right. The team in Boston doesn’t get a lighter version of the standard that governs 38,000 inspections and cleanings. We get the same one, on every job, since 2009.
